ဗုဒၶဘာသာ၀င္ဟု ဆိုဆို မဆိုဆို၊ ကမၻာေပၚရွိ ဘာသာႀကီး တိုင္းကို ကၽြႏ္ုပ္ ေလ့လာထားမိ သေလာက္ မည္သည့္ ဘာသာတရားတြင္မွ အလွတရားႏွင့္ နားလည္မႈအရ ဗုဒၶ၏ မဂၢင္ ရွစ္ပါး၊ သစၥာေလးပါးထက္ သာလြန္သည့္ တရားဓမၼမ်ဳိးကို မေတြ႕မိ။ ထိုလမ္းစဥ္ႏွင့္ အညီ ကၽြႏု္ပ္ ဘ၀ အား ပုံေဖာ္ရသည္ကို ကၽြႏု္ပ္ ေက်နပ္၏။

The Law, to which reference is made repeatedly in these edicts, was the Law of the Buddha. Ashoka became an ardent Buddhist and tried his utmost to spread the Dharma. But there was no force or compulsion. It was only by winning men's hearts that he sought to make converts. Men of religion have seldom, very seldom, been as tolerant as Ashoka.

ထို (အေသာကမင္း စိုက္ထူခဲ့ေသာ) ေက်ာက္စာမ်ား၌ အႀကိမ္ႀကိမ္ ရည္ၫႊန္းခဲ့သည့္ ဓမၼ ဟူသည္ ဗုဒၶ၏ ဓမၼ ျဖစ္၏။ အေသာကမင္းသည္ ဗုဒၶ၀ါဒကို ေကာင္းစြာ လိုက္နာသူ ျဖစ္သြားၿပီး ဗုဒၶဓမၼျပန္႔ပြားရန္ အစြမ္းကုန္ ႀကိဳးစား၏။ သို႔ရာတြင္ အတင္းအၾကပ္ ေဆာင္႐ြက္သည္ကား မဟုတ္ေခ်။ လူအမ်ား၏ ႏွလုံးသားကို ေအာင္ျမင္ျခင္းျဖင့္သာ ဘာသာကူးေျပာင္းမႈကို ေဆာင္ ႐ြက္ ၏။ အေသာကမင္းကဲ့သို႔ သည္းခံႏိုင္သူ ဘာသာေရး ပုဂၢဳိလ္ကား ရွားမွ ရွားတည္း။

ေမ၊ ငါသည္။ ကထံ ဘူတႆ၊ မည္သို႔ ျဖစ္ေနစဥ္။ ရတၱိဒိဝါ၊ ညဥ့္ေန႔တို႔သည္။ ၀ီတိ၀တၱႏၲိ၊ ငါ့ကို လြန္၍သြားၾကသနည္း။ ဣတိ၊ ဤသို႔။ ပဗၺဇိေတန၊ ရဟန္းျဖစ္သူသည္။ အဘိဏွံ ပစၥေဝကၡိတဗၺံ၊ မျပတ္ ဆင္ျခင္ရမည္။

Oh, this form (body), which is of four elements, is impure in reality. It is indeed loathsome. Foolish women having no insight relish this impure, loathsome body.

ေခမာမိဖုရား၏ သံေ၀ဂ
ဓီရတၳဳ ႐ူပံ အသုစိ၊ ရမေႏၲ ယတၳ ဗာလိယာ။
႐ူပံ၊ ဓာတ္ေလးပါးေဆာင္ ဤ႐ုပ္ေကာင္သည္။ အသုစိ၊ ပင္ကိုယ္ သူ႔သေဘာ၀ယ္ မစင္ၾကယ္ပါတကား။ ဓီ၊ စက္ဆုပ္ ႐ြံရွာဖြယ္သည္။ အတၳဳ၊ ျဖစ္စြတကား။ ယတၳ၊ ယင္းသို႔ မစင္မၾကယ္ ထီြဖြယ္ျဖစ္ေသာ ႐ုပ္ေကာင္၌၊ ဗာလိယာ၊ ပညာအႏၶ အမိုက္မတို႔သည္။ ရမေႏၲ၊ ေမြ႕ေလ်ာ္ေပ်ာ္ပိုက္ ႏွစ္ၿခိဳက္၍ ေနကုန္၏တကား။
